Starter cartridge | Sea Hawks IN156 and IN157 | RAF Changi August 1962
Sea Hawks IN157 '077' and IN156 '076' of 300 Sqdn Indian Navy visited Changi after firing practice at the China Rock range whilst their carrier INS Vikrant was heading towards the Singapore Naval Base. The nearest aircraft IN157 developed engine problems and was unable to start. IN156 '076', the aircraft of Lieutenant R.H.Tahilian is seen just after firing it's started cartridge to leave on it's own. INS Vikrant was early into it's first commission and Lieutenant Tahilian had carried out the first Indian deck landing on the carrier, in IN156 on 18th May 1961. The Indian jets were ex Fleet Air Arm, IN157 was converted from Sea Hawk FB3 WF293 and IN156 was WM978.
